Hey, As the World Turns fans -- don't miss this Friday's episode. Dec. 21 is a special Christmas episode that brings a turn-of-the-20th-century dollhouse to life and depicts the residents of Oakdale in situations that might or might not be reminiscent of their own.
Just as one would expect, Susan Lucci is super tiny in person, but the moment she begins to speak, her personality fills the room. I had the chance to catch up with Ms. Lucci at ABC’s Disney/MGM Super Soap Weekend in Orlando, Fla., last month. If you’ve never been or don’t know what it is, let me explain. It’s the mack-daddy of all meet-and-greets. All the hottest stars from the ABC soaps spend the weekend in sunny Central Florida for the main purpose of meeting, mingling with and entertaining their fans.
(from imdb.com) The star of the TV movie adaptation of hit 1980s series Knight Rider has been injured on the set. Actor Justin Bruening is recovering after getting hurt in a fight scene on Friday. Bruening injured his knee so badly he was hospitalized.
Don't miss General Hospital on Monday, Dec. 17, as the text-message killer claims another victim. Message boards are blowing up that the latest victim is Georgie Jones. (UPDATE: We were right. It was Georgie who succumbed the Text-Message Killer's rage.) This conclusion makes the most sense, as actress Lindze Letherman (left, image courtesy ABC) , who has portrayed Georgie since 2002, was set to leave GH earlier this year, but then had her contract extended by three months to tie up her story line.
As of this writing it hasn't been confirmed by any of the top brass at Passions, but two of the shows actresses have confirmed on their Web sites that DirecTV has given Passions the ax. According to Liza Huber, who plays Gwen: "Yes, it is true that Passions will finish taping at the end of March 2008. We will start airing three days a week on DirecTV, which should last through summer 2008. It has been a wonderful ride (although Gwen has completely lost her mind!), and I want to thank all of you for your amazing support for Passions through the years!"
I'm always amazed when one of soaps' best actors leaves daytime and doesn't immediately score the great part he or she deserves. Why doesn't the rest of Hollywood see what we see? That's where the element of luck comes in. If it were all based on talent, Tony Geary (Luke, General Hospital) would be tripping over his Oscars on the way out the door each day.
Two young stars with bright futures outside of soaps are coming back, although for how long isn't known. Both may have already nabbed their roles of a lifetime on their respective soaps, but let's hope not. The rest of the world needs to see what they are capable of -- but what are the chances of another part like Jonathan Randall for Tom Pelphrey, or another Carly Corinthos for Sarah J. Brown? I don't want to see Pelphrey or Brown yucking it up on some poorly written sitcom or TV movie of the week.
One sure way to tell when a soap character is being brought back is if he's suddenly mentioned by another character out of the blue. Margo Hughes (Ellen Dolan) recently hinted to husband Tom (Scott Holmes) that son Casey might be paroled in time for Christmas. Zach Roerig played Casey on As the World Turns but chose to leave when his contract was up. Thus Casey was sent off to prison for stealing Will's (Jesse Soffer) bonds.
AMC: Fearing she'll lose Jenny, Krystal is forced to lie to Tad about her relationship with Adam.
ATWT: A beloved character collapses. Will he get the medical help he needs before it's too late?
B&B: Katie and Jake find photographic proof of who killed Stephanie Forrester.
Days: Someone agrees to turn herself in for the attempted murder of EJ Wells.
GH: Maxie accidentally leaks incriminating information about Coop.
GL: Edmund is pushed, but with his list of enemies, anyone could have done it.
OLTL: Cole is out to avenge the death of his mother and takes it out on poor Miles.
Passions: Crazy Norma and Mrs. Wallace pay their annual Christmas visit to Tabitha.
Y&R: Gloria's testimony outs Jack for tampering with his father's will.
AMC: Richie's prison psychiatrist pays him a visit in Pine Valley. Will Ryan figure out what they're up to?
ATWT: Alison figures out who the birth mother (and father) is in Gwen's adoption.
B&B: The police search Stephen Logan's hotel room and find something of significance.
Days: Chloe returns to Salem and finds Belle acting suspicious.
GH: Despite being deceived by Elizabeth, Lucky tells her he still wants to raise Jake.
GL: Marina walks in on Cyrus and Harley during a close moment.
OLTL: Charlie arrives in Llanview looking for his son.
Passions: Eve urged "Valerie" to tell Julian she was really Vincent in disguise.
Y&R: Jack leaked a tape that could make Victor look guilty of murder.

On Friday, November 23, CBS will air a special episode of The Young and the Restless entitled "Out of the Ashes: The Rescue," showing highlights from the series' recent week of episodes about the Clear Springs Building Collapse.

The ladies of the ABC soaps perform their own version of Chicago's "Cell Block Tango." With Bobbie Eakes, Bree Williamson, Kristen Alderson, Tika Sumpter and Melissa Claire Egan. This performance was from Disney MGM's Super Soap Weekend Street Jam on Saturday, November 10.
In another casting upheaval at Days of Our Lives, Marcus Patrick, who portrayed Jett Carver, has been let go. His last day was yesterday. Rumors are swirling that he was fired because he posed for racy pics in Playgirl magazine. A Days rep adamantly denies those rumors, stating that the ousting is story-line dictated.
As expected, Nathaniel Marston (left, with Trevor St. John as Todd), Michael McBain of One Life to Live, has been let go. The firing following the bizarre incident of last month where he went on what seemed like "a drugged-out rampage" according to witnesses, injuring innocent bystanders in NYC.
I haven't had time to sort through and touch-up all my pictures from Super Soap Weekend yet, but, in honor of Cameron and Edyta's (premature, in my opinion) departure from Dancing With the Stars, I wanted to post this video of their performance this past Saturday night.

Cameron Mathison has made the soap world proud. He made it to the top 5 dancers on Dancing With the Stars, before being voted off last night. When you consider all he's been doing since he started the show, it's amazing he's still awake, let alone dancing up a storm.

OK, so this is weird that Dana mentions this, because it made me remember something that happened at Super Soap Weekend that I did not think anything of at the time. During the AMC talk show, they were all talking, having fun, and I can't remember the context of it, but someone mentioned Cady McClain out of the blue. It got quiet for a moment, and then someone changed the subject really fast. Could one of the actors almost have slipped up and mentioned that Cady was coming back to AMC? Did I happen to hear a "kinda" spoiler? I hope so! If she does come back to AMC soon, remember, you heard it HERE first!

Quick post, checking in from ABC's Super Soap Weekend at Disney MGM Studios. Here's a shot taken after my interview with Kassie DePaiva (Blair, OLTL). She is one of the sweetest women I have ever met. I heart Kassie! BTW, I am 5'8", so you can see, she is a tall one!
James Hyde, who plays the ruggedly handsome Sam Bennett, Harmony's fearless police chief on Passions, will be guest-starring on Las Vegas tomorrow night, Friday, Nov. 9. He joins former daytime hunk (now nighttime hunk) Josh Duhamel.

General Hospital star Kirsten Storms had her own daytime drama play out in an L.A. courtroom today as her attorney, on her behalf, pleaded no contest to drunk driving charges.
The judge sentenced Kirsten to three years probation and ordered her to attend 12 AA meetings. That must start immediately, and she must attend two meetings per week. Storms' license was also suspended for six months, and she must pay a $390 fine.
If she fails to comply with these terms, she must serve 13 days in County Jail.
Storms was arrested in September after a CHP officer noticed a lit cigarette being thrown from her blue Mercedes. She was pulled over and the officer noticed an odor of booze in the car. After failing field sobriety tests, the actress was booked on DUI charges.
Rib Hillis, who played Jake on Port Charles and filled in for Eric Martsolf as Ethan on Passions when he was on paternity leave, is now a carpenter on the reality show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Before that he traveled the world as a model. The multitalented Hillis has also sweated it up on two other home improvement shows: Model Citizen and Get A Grip.
He debuts on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition on Nov. 11th on ABC at 8 pm.

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – October 30, 2007 – This past Saturday, cast and crew members from NBC's popular daytime drama Days of our Lives helped beautify the North Hollywood Park (11455 Magnolia Blvd., North Hollywood, CA) at the first "Days of our Lives Adopt-a-Park" event in support of NBC Universal's "Green is Universal" campaign.
Throughout the day approximately 40 people attended the event including Days cast members Deidre Hall, Alison Sweeney, Stephen Nichols, James Scott, Nadia Bjorlin, Brandon Beemer, Darin Brooks, Blake Berris, Matthew Florida, Kristen Renton and their family and friends.
Wearing green T-shirts with the "Green Is Universal" logo the cast and crew planted approximately 15 trees, cleaned up several flowerbeds, picked up trash, and raked leaves.
"It was a pleasure working with the cast of Days of our Lives this weekend," said Tom Leveque, North Hollywood Park Maintenance Supervisor, Department of Recreation & Park, City of Los Angeles, "The staff and I really appreciated all of their hard work in helping to beautify the park and we look forward to their next visit."
Days of our Lives hopes that this event will encourage their fans to get involved in beautifying their own local communities, and suggests fans to contact their local parks’ department to find out about similar programs.
"Planting a tree is a gift we give to our children, our town, and our planet. If feels good on every level, and I highly recommend it!" said Deidre Hall.

Now that the initial disaster has passed (although many Genoa City residents will be dealing with the after-effects for quite some time to come), did the week-long catastrophe live up to all the hoopla?
For me, I say "YES!" I was very happy with how the disaster was handled. I like that each day featured a new set of characters to rescue, without a whole lot of dragging out and such. Everyone did such a great job "acting injured and scared."
Plus, as Peter Bergman told me many people told him during filming: I loved seeing Jack Abbott all filthy dirty! (see pic, courtesy CBS.com) You don't see that happen too often!
