Former "ATWT" Bad Boy Has Shown Gift for Comedy

Who would have thought that the guy who played hot-tempered Kevin Gibson, Frannie Hughes’s (Julianne Moore) on-again, off-again boyfriend on As the World Turns back in 1985, would become such a gifted comedy actor? Steven Weber started out on ATWT” playing bad boy Kevin (well, he did redeem himself by taking a bullet for Frannie), then spent many years on the hilarious sitcom Wings. Since then the series he’s been attached to haven’t had the same success “Wings” did, most recently the critically acclaimed Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip." Now he’s partnering up with another gifted comedian, Molly Shannon (“Saturday Night Live“), in the lighthearted Lifetime holiday movie More of Me.

A quick synopsis reads: "Molly Shannon and Steven Weber star in this whimsical, lighthearted, and touching comedy about an overworked and overextended wife, mom and career woman who splits into three separate versions of herself with distinct personalities in order to manage her chaotic life."

"More of Me" premieres Sat. Nov. 17th at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.

Days Cast "Greened Up" North Hollywood Park

Press Release

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – October 30, 2007 – This past Saturday, cast and crew members from NBC's popular daytime drama Days of our Lives helped beautify the North Hollywood Park (11455 Magnolia Blvd., North Hollywood, CA) at the first "Days of our Lives Adopt-a-Park" event in support of NBC Universal's "Green is Universal" campaign.

Throughout the day approximately 40 people attended the event including Days cast members Deidre Hall, Alison Sweeney, Stephen Nichols, James Scott, Nadia Bjorlin, Brandon Beemer, Darin Brooks, Blake Berris, Matthew Florida, Kristen Renton and their family and friends.

Wearing green T-shirts with the "Green Is Universal" logo the cast and crew planted approximately 15 trees, cleaned up several flowerbeds, picked up trash, and raked leaves.

"It was a pleasure working with the cast of Days of our Lives this weekend," said Tom Leveque, North Hollywood Park Maintenance Supervisor, Department of Recreation & Park, City of Los Angeles, "The staff and I really appreciated all of their hard work in helping to beautify the park and we look forward to their next visit."

Days of our Lives hopes that this event will encourage their fans to get involved in beautifying their own local communities, and suggests fans to contact their local parks’ department to find out about similar programs.

"Planting a tree is a gift we give to our children, our town, and our planet. If feels good on every level, and I highly recommend it!" said Deidre Hall.

Here are some pics from the event (courtesy NBC and Days of Our Lives):

POLL: Did Y&R's "Out of the Ashes" Live Up to the Hype?

Now that the initial disaster has passed (although many Genoa City residents will be dealing with the after-effects for quite some time to come), did the week-long catastrophe live up to all the hoopla?

For me, I say "YES!" I was very happy with how the disaster was handled. I like that each day featured a new set of characters to rescue, without a whole lot of dragging out and such. Everyone did such a great job "acting injured and scared."
Plus, as Peter Bergman told me many people told him during filming: I loved seeing Jack Abbott all filthy dirty! (see pic, courtesy CBS.com) You don't see that happen too often!

ATWT Star Recovers From Oral Surgery

Fans of Colleen Zenk-Pinter and As the World Turns have been concerned in recent months regarding a change in the actress' speech. Many had expressed concern that maybe the actress, who has played Barbara Ryan for almost 30 years, had suffered a stroke, or some other dibilitating affliction.

It was recently revealed that the actress had been diagnosed with oral cancer and had to have reconstructive surgery performed on her tongue, which would, in turn, affect her speech. Colleen revealed the news of her cancer on CBS' The Early Show.

She was flabbergasted to learn of her diagnosis, as the actress does not smoke or drink, which are two of the biggest risk factors for oral cancer.

"I was so lucky that it was discovered as Stage II cancer," Colleen explained. "They were able to treat me and perform the surgeries on me that still enabled me to have use of my tongue. And I still have my taste buds. It's a very, very invasive kind of procedure."

The actress said this in a statement: "I want to thank the fans for the love and support they have sent my way these past months. You will never know how much your kind words and encouragement have meant to me. Today I am cancer-free, but my disease is with me every second of every day. My tongue is hard, lumpy, laced with scar tissue and often covered with painful blisters. It affects my speech, how I eat, how I drink and how I kiss my husband. Yet, I am lucky."

So for those of you who are nervous about your risk of contracting oral cancer, your dentist can perform a simple check the next time you go in for your twice-yearly cleaning. Don't be afraid to ask him or her how your mouth looks, if the information is not automatically offered to you.

Todd McKee Returns to B&B

Todd McKee, who played Jake MacClaine on The Bold and the Beautiful from 1990-92, is set to return to the role on Wednesday, November 14. Todd was involved in a major story line at the time of his first go-round -- and perhaps a first in soap history. It was revealed that as a child, Jake had been sexually molested by who he thought was his father, but it turned out to be his Uncle Charlie.

As you will recall, Jake is Margo's brother, and Margo (a designer for the Forresters) was played by Lauren Koslow, who now played Kate Roberts on Days of Our Lives.

No word yet on how his reappearance on the scene will affect the other B&B characters.

Hunter Says Goodbye to Her Son

More than 200 guests paid their respects and mourned the death of Hunter Tylo's son, Michael Tylo Jr. As reported in a previous column, Michael suffered what appeared to be a seizure while talking on his phone outside by the family pool. He fell in and drowned. The death has been ruled accidental.

Many of Hunter's castmates and co-workers at The Bold and the Beautiful lent their support to the grieving mother at Forest Lawn Memorial Park's Church of the Hills on Friday, where the service was held. Hunter praised the memory of her son saying: "He liked to make me laugh. He had a beautiful spirit. I thank God for giving me those 19 years."

The main offices at B&B were closed on Friday.
