Bit Parts

Keep an eye out for the following very brief casting appearances. Two have showbiz lineage and one is one of my favorite soap actors of all time.

Shanna Ferrigno, the daughter of bodybuilder Lou Ferrigno, will play the role of a female cop who investigates Willow on Days of Our Lives on Wed., April 18th.

Jed Reynolds, son of James Reynolds (Abe, Days), will play the role of Officer Grierson. Jed will air on Tuesday, April 17th and Wednesday, April 18th.

Roscoe Born plays the warden on Passions on Monday, April 23rd. Born is a daytime veteran with a long list of soap credits, most recently as the delightfully despicable Tom Fisher on The Young and the Restless.

SPOILERS! Week of April 2nd

AMC: Adam walks in on Tad and Krystal at the worst possible moment.
ATWT: Jade isn't ready to let go of her grudge against Gwen. What does she have up her sleeve now?
B&B: Brooke isn't giving up on Nick, but she may have to reconsider if Taylor gets pregnant.

Jessica Griffin Leaves Oakdale

Following too many months (in my opinion) hanging around in the background, Tamara Tunie is leaving her role of Jessica Griffin after approximately two decades on As the World Turns. Tunie played the high-powered lawyer off and on since 1986. In past years, her character has had juicy story lines, including her interracial marriage to Duncan McKechnie, her date-rape story line with Marshall Travers and her daughter, Bonnie's, subsequent attempted murder of Marshall for raping her mother.

Recent months have seen Tamara hanging in the background and helping other people with their problems, while her character was having no story line of her own. Tamara kept herself busy with different projects in primetime TV, on Broadway as a producer and work in feature films.

While no official word has been given for her departure (the spokesperson I talked to stated that the show does not discuss actors' contracts), when I spoke with Tamara late last year, she spoke of her frustration for lack of story line. As she said: "My presence in Oakdale hasn't been great in the past year and a half. I miss it too -- that's what's been missing -- a lot of the history is missing to ground the show for the fans. I miss working with Ellen Dolan (Margo Hughes). I miss her and Jessica's friendship."

OLTL Star Injures Self

Heartthrob Kamar de los Reyes is taking a leave from One Life to Live in order to get back into prime health. The dashing actor tore his rotator cuff some time back, and recently reaggravated it while doing a stunt for the show. Despite radiating pain in his neck and shoulders, Kamar has continued to show up for work on the OLTL set.

Reyes released this statement about his injury and recovery: "I appreciate the overwhelming support you all have given me at this time, and I wanted you to hear the news directly from me. I am so sorry to announce to you that I must step down and be recast for a short period of time due to my injuries. This has been such a trying time for me, the torn rotator cuff and the herniations are causing other problems that will not allow me to continue at the pace my story line currently requires. I have given all that I have to the character of Antonio Vega, but my health is mandating my full attention at this time. I plan to make a full and complete recovery and return to work not much more than a week after my surgery."

Get well soon, Kamar! We'll be thinking of you.
