Classic Supercouple Returning to All My Children

One of daytime's most popular supercouples from the 1980s -- which in my opinion is the golden era of the Supercouple! -- is returning to All My Children. Darnell Williams and Debbi Morgan have signed contracts (not just recurring!) to return to the soap in January. The duo played the uber-popular Jesse and Angie Hubbard two decades ago. Sadly, Jesse was killed off. So does this mean he's returning as a ghost? It could be he's coming back in the form of his lookalike, Jacob, who surfaced on Loving/The City when Morgan's character relocated to that soap after Jesse died. I'll take him in either form, although I'm partial to him returning as his original character, Jesse.

Williams most recently played a bad guy, Griggs, on Guiding Light, and Morgan has a recurring role as an attorney on The Bold and the Beautiful, as well as a judge on the reality series I Wanna Be a Soap Star. She was also absolutely fantastic in the indie film Eve's Bayou in the 1990s and generated Oscar talk, but alas wasn't awarded a nomination. I'm thrilled to see both of them back on AMC.

General Hospital: The Text Message Killer Strikes Again!

Don't miss General Hospital on Monday, Dec. 17, as the text-message killer claims another victim. Message boards are blowing up that the latest victim is Georgie Jones. (UPDATE: We were right. It was Georgie who succumbed the Text-Message Killer's rage.) This conclusion makes the most sense, as actress Lindze Letherman (left, image courtesy ABC) , who has portrayed Georgie since 2002, was set to leave GH earlier this year, but then had her contract extended by three months to tie up her story line.

Also, Georgie's mom, Felicia (played by Kristina Wagner) is set to return to Port Charles on Thursday, Dec. 20, for what we can assume is the bad news about the death of her daughter. She shares scenes with other daughter, Maxie (Kirsten Storms), who is upset by her mother's continued absence.

So, the slight good news for Jones Family fans: While you might be losing Georgie, at least you'll temporarily be gaining Felicia, if even for a short run.

Passions: Has It Been Cancelled Again?

As of this writing it hasn't been confirmed by any of the top brass at Passions, but two of the shows actresses have confirmed on their Web sites that DirecTV has given Passions the ax. According to Liza Huber, who plays Gwen: "Yes, it is true that Passions will finish taping at the end of March 2008. We will start airing three days a week on DirecTV, which should last through summer 2008. It has been a wonderful ride (although Gwen has completely lost her mind!), and I want to thank all of you for your amazing support for Passions through the years!"

Fans had hoped that the switch to DirecTV this past fall might breathe some new life into the soap, and gain new fans. However, this particular gamble seems not to have paid off for the show. Passions has always been known for its outlandish story lines and characters, but in recent years, it has really gone wacko. Perhaps it is time to lay this old dog to rest. But, they gave it their best shot! And I will definitely miss Gratuitous Shirtless Scenes. Oh yes, I will miss those most of all.
