Emmy-nominated actor, recording artist and philanthropist Jack Wagner (Nick Marone, The Bold and the Beautiful) will host The 2nd Annual Jack Wagner Celebrity Golf Classic, benefitting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), it was announced today.
“I lost my father in 1990 to multiple myeloma and in 1999 my brother Dennis was diagnosed with leukemia. He has relapsed four separate times, during each of which he endured chemotherapy and the challenges that come along with recovery. In 2007, Dennis received a complete bone marrow transplant and is still fighting a daily battle against complications associated with this procedure,” said Wagner. “Let Dennis be an example to us all that our efforts truly make a difference. He is still with us today because of new life-saving treatments, but we must still push for a cure.”
Wagner, who was named the number one celebrity golfer by Golf Digest and winner of the 17th Annual (2006) American Century Tahoe Celebrity Golf Championship, approached LLS to create a golf event in support of the Society’s mission: cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life for patients and their families. In its first year, The Jack Wagner Celebrity Golf Classic raised $320,000 to fund critical cancer research and patient services.
This year’s event will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at The Valencia Country Club in Valencia, CA. Celebrities scheduled to attend include: Marcus Allen, Alonzo Bodden, Vince Coleman, Tom Dreesen, Kenny G, Brett Hull, Heather Locklear, Kyle Lowder, Jack McGee, Jerry Rice and Jack Wagner. The schedule of events includes breakfast, a shotgun start, golf tournament, a Million Dollar Shoot Out sponsored by Ritz Carlton Club, and a cocktail reception, silent auction, awards dinner and a live auction. The event is not open to the public. The Jack Wagner Celebrity Golf Classic is generously sponsored by Toyota Financial Services, The Bell Family Foundation, Parks, Palmer, Turner, and Yemenidjian, The Valencia Country Club and American Airlines. All proceeds will go directly to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®, headquartered in White Plains, NY, with 68 chapters in the United States and Canada, is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. The LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, LLS has invested more than $550 million in research specifically targeting leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Last year alone, LLS made 5.1 million contacts with patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals. For more information on LLS please visit: www.lls.org/los.

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) — Stanley Kamel, who played Adrian Monk's long-suffering psychiatrist on the TV detective show Monk, has died. He was 65.
Kamel was found dead Tuesday of a heart attack in his Hollywood Hills home by his agents, publicist Cynthia Snyder said.
Kamel, born on January 1, 1943, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, had a nearly four-decade acting career, much of it on television. He had a recurring role as an unscrupulous psychiatrist, Dr. Graham Lester, in the 1995 television series Murder One, and other recurring roles on Days of Our Lives, Melrose Place and Beverly Hills, 90210, as well as smaller roles on many other shows.
Kamel began acting off-Broadway and got his first television break playing Eric Peters on Days of Our Lives in the 1970s. He appeared in several movies.
For several years, he portrayed Dr. Charles Kroger on the USA Network series Monk. As Kroger, he dispensed advice during weekly therapy sessions to Monk (Tony Shalhoub), a brilliant but neurotic private detective with obsessive-compulsive disorder.
