Alan Quartermaine Back from the Dead (for now)

Shocked and angry fans have gotten their wish. Alan Quartermaine is back, at least for now. Stuart Damon was fired from General Hospital after 30 years on the show, and fans and longtime cast members were outraged. Yes, his death would probably give a nice ratings boost to GH during February sweeps, but would it be worth it? Well, apparently GH has wised up because they are resurrecting Alan Quartermaine. No, he's not really alive; he's coming back as a ghost to haunt Tracy (Jane Elliot).

Damon's contract actually wasn't scheduled to expire until August, so the show has to pay him until then anyway. My guess is he will appear as a ghost until August, and then the producers will decide if they want to keep him. I doubt they will sign him to a contract again since, like all the soaps these days, they are trying to save money, so maybe he will be offered to stay on a recurring basis, which means he will appear here and there, but is free to pursue other acting opportunities.

Rumor had it that The Bold and the Beautiful was interested in him for the role of Massimo Marone (last played by Joseph Mascolo), but so far he hasn't been approached. The current rumor is that Guiding Light is interested in hiring him to play Ed Bauer (last played by Peter Simon). I would love to see Damon in either of these roles. Someone give this man a contract!

Olivia Returns to Genoa City

Tonya Lee Williams (Dr. Olivia Winters) will return to The Young and the Restless for a two-episode story arc, which will air April 12 and 13. Since that is around the time Victoria Rowell is scheduled to leave (who just happens to play Olivia's sister, Dru), methinks her trip to Genoa City has something to do with Dru's exit.

More info as we get it.

AMC Head Writer Canned! Julia Barr to Return?

Effective immediately, ABC has confirmed that Megan McTavish has been fired as head writer of All My Children.

Fans will most likely be rejoicing, as many voiced outrage concerning several dark storylines that had been unfolding, as well as the recent killing off of fan-favorite Cady McClain (ex-Dixie) by the Satin Slayer.

Hopefully this will be a chance for AMC to get back to basics, and to reinvigorate its fan base, as well as the tired storylines. McTavish's ousting is also sparking rumors that Julia Barr (Brooke English) might be coming back this spring (after being unceremoniously dumped late last year after almost 30 years on the show).

As of this writing, ABC has not named McTavish's replacement.

"Young & Restless" Spring 2007 Spoilers

The folks at "Y&R" have been kind enough to share with us some spoilers for spring 2007. I’m most excited that Nikki is finally getting a storyline, Phyllis is embracing her inner bad girl again, and Victoria is close to learning the truth about Brad and Sharon. Here are some teasers for the next few months of the No.1-rated daytime soap:

  • Someone has it out for Prof. Korbel, taking every opportunity to destroy his career and drive him out of Genoa City and Colleen’s life.
  • Brad and Jack fight over who is best for Sharon. Uh, Brad, do you remember Victoria, your wife? Also, an unexpected development forces Brad and Sharon to admit their true feelings. Again, where does this leave Victoria, and will she find out?
  • Nikki has had it with Victor’s attitude toward her, but she might lose him for good if she goes too far to prove him wrong.
  • Phyllis goes back to her wicked ways when she blackmails Brad and Sharon about their one-night stand. Will Nick still love her when she shows her true colors?
  • Daniel’s preoccupation with Amber’s Web site could jeopardize his marriage to Lily.
  • The fallout from Kevin hacking into Jabot’s security system affects Jack, Katherine, Gloria, Jill, among others.

Think you know Victoria Rowell (soon to be ex-Drucilla Winters, The Young and the Restless)? Well, prove it.

I'm gonna ask you a question. You have until Friday, March 2nd, to e-mail me your answer, (Or you can e-mail me through my blogspot profile.) Do NOT answer the question in the comments sections, as it will be deleted so as not to give the answer to other people.

Of all the correct answers, I will draw one winner to receive an Advanced Readers Copy of Victoria Rowell's soon-to-be-published memoir, The Women Who Raised Me. I just finished the book, and it is beautiful and inspiring.
Here's the question: Victoria recently starred alongside Samuel L. Jackson as his wife in this past winter's, Home of the Brave. What movie did they appear in together in the '90s?
