Days Actor Let Go

In another casting upheaval at Days of Our Lives, Marcus Patrick, who portrayed Jett Carver, has been let go. His last day was yesterday. Rumors are swirling that he was fired because he posed for racy pics in Playgirl magazine. A Days rep adamantly denies those rumors, stating that the ousting is story-line dictated.

Of course, people who are looking for a juicy story will say that Days is covering up, however, I believe they are telling the truth. I interviewed Marcus a few months ago, and he talked openly about the Playgirl spread (a Days rep was on the phone with us). Days did not seem to have a problem with it, at least not one that they led on to me about. He was proud of the pics, and it would seem he would have downplayed the spread if he thought it might get him fired.

I think his leaving is just a part of the budget shake-up at Days. I mean, they had to let Drake Hogestyn go, for goodness sake! They are hanging on by a thread each year when it comes renewal time, which is a shame, since Days of Our Lives is an iconic American soap-opera! Hopefully things will settle down there soon, and we won't lose any more cast members.

OLTL Actor Let Go

As expected, Nathaniel Marston (left, with Trevor St. John as Todd), Michael McBain of One Life to Live, has been let go. The firing following the bizarre incident of last month where he went on what seemed like "a drugged-out rampage" according to witnesses, injuring innocent bystanders in NYC.

"Nathaniel Marston has been a valuable member of the cast of One Life to Live bringing Michael McBain to life for legions of fans," a OLTL spokesperson said in a statement. "He leaves the show with our sincere appreciation for his many contributions and our support as he addresses personal challenges. We wish him well."

After the news went public, Nathaniel had this to say on his personal Web site:

Now that ABC has officially commented, I can confirm that I have been let go from One Life To Live. I don't think of this as an ending, but rather the beginning of a new chapter in my life. Your support and encouragement have meant the world to me and have buoyed my spirits in a trying time. I know that my absence from the show will be a disappointment to many of you. All I can say is let the decision-makers at ABC know how you feel. I would also like to thank those of my co-workers at One Life To Live who took the time to get in touch with me to offer your friendship and prayers. You know who you are and let me just say that you are amazing people and I will never forget your compassion.

As you know, I did not start my career in soap operas, but in commercials, film and primetime television. I will continue to pursue these avenues, as well as any other opportunities that come my way. The best part of being on One Life To Live was that it gave me the chance to meet so many wonderful fans. Your energy and enthusiasm are truly awesome, and I hope you'll come along for the ride as I embark on the next phase of my career.

VIDEO: Cameron and Edyta at Super Soap Weekend

I haven't had time to sort through and touch-up all my pictures from Super Soap Weekend yet, but, in honor of Cameron and Edyta's (premature, in my opinion) departure from Dancing With the Stars, I wanted to post this video of their performance this past Saturday night.

Enjoy!!

ER star, and former General Hospital heartthrob, John Stamos, was involved in a disturbance on a plane this past Monday.

According to imdb.com: "The unnamed woman reportedly shook the actor awake during the flight from Chicago, Ill., to Los Angeles, and then sat in, and refused to give up, his first-class seat when he went to the toilet. Stamos, who was traveling with a friend, was hit several times in the hand as the woman began shouting and threatening him. F.B.I. agents boarded the plane when it landed, as is standard procedure when dealing with a midair disturbance. The officials took statements from numerous witnesses, although it appears no charges will be filed."

First of all, someone needs to file charges -- this woman is evidently deranged. Second of all, how weird would that have been for John to suffer through? The man was just trying to catch some Zzz's. I know how I get when I am awakened -- imagine how it is to be awakened by a crazed fan?
UPDATE
OK, now here is E! Online's version, which doesn't sound nearly as weird as imdb's version of the events: "The ER star was involved in an altercation while flying first class from Chicago to Los Angeles when he was approached by a woman interested in chatting while he was trying to sleep. When the woman persisted in getting louder, airline personnel tried to quiet her, and as part of standard procedure, they notified authorities when the plane landed. The FBI took statements from everyone involved, but it appeared no charges would be filed."

Cameron Mathison Dances Into the Sunset

Cameron Mathison has made the soap world proud. He made it to the top 5 dancers on Dancing With the Stars, before being voted off last night. When you consider all he's been doing since he started the show, it's amazing he's still awake, let alone dancing up a storm.

As many of you know, Cameron has been filming everyday for All My Children, rehearsing for DWTS whenever he gets a break, and he is also doing all kinds of promotional events -- the most recent being Super Soap Weekend. I saw him upclose at SSW and can't believe how great he looks for being run so ragged. It just goes to show what eating right and exercise will do for you, that's for sure!

While I am bummed I'll no longer get to watch him dance, in a way, I am happy that now he'll finally be able to catch up on some Z's. But as he said last night, he wanted more than anything to be able to stay on and keep competing.

Most of us agree that Marie Osmond is the weakest dancer out of them all, and she should not have lasted past the third week. But those Osmonds have a HUGE fan base, and they keep saving her, since the judges have made it clear that she is not up to par with the rest of the dancers. Also, with the news of her father's passing, it would have been cruel to vote her off this week.

Now, I am wholeheartedly pulling for 90210 alum Jennie Garth. Please help me and vote for Jennie next week. We need to keep the great dancers on the show -- especially soap-opera alumni! -- and leave the mediocre ones behind.

McClain's World Stops Spinning Early

First she was poisoned by pancakes, now (I'm assuming) she's going back into a coma? However the writers decide to conclude Rosanna's storyline on As the World Turns, Cady McClain is making an early exit, as explained on her blog: http://www.cadymcclain.com/blog/:

"I have sad news. TPTB are wrapping up the Rosanna storyline early. I was slated to work through February, but the story took a dramatic turn that will alter that plan. I have always been open to all possibilities, even this one, but I will be sad to have to say goodbye so soon.

Thanks for all your support during my brief return! Who knows where I shall land next. It’s gonna be an interesting 2008!
Love and gratitude always…
Cady"

Darnit! I was hoping to see her interact more with Scott Bryce (Craig) and would have loved to see her with Wally Kurth when he debuts soon on the soap. Hopefully another soap will snatch her up, or perhaps All My Children will make up for their mistake and resurrect her after her death at the hands of Aunt Jemima. See you soon somewhere, Cady!

THIS IS CINDY NOW:
OK, so this is weird that Dana mentions this, because it made me remember something that happened at Super Soap Weekend that I did not think anything of at the time. During the AMC talk show, they were all talking, having fun, and I can't remember the context of it, but someone mentioned Cady McClain out of the blue. It got quiet for a moment, and then someone changed the subject really fast. Could one of the actors almost have slipped up and mentioned that Cady was coming back to AMC? Did I happen to hear a "kinda" spoiler? I hope so! If she does come back to AMC soon, remember, you heard it HERE first!
