Rick Springfield Featured in 4 Episodes of Californication

Rick Springfield has signed on to play himself in four episodes of Californication.

Producers of the Showtime dramedy put out a casting call looking for "an actor who experienced huge fame in the '80s to play himself as a now down-on-his-luck ex-celebrity waiting tables to get by."

It would also appear that the role requires "tasteful nudity" and "simulated sex." He showed his bare bum in Hard to Hold. It'll be nice to see how it is all holding up, huh?

Early Rick Springfield Footage Unearthed

The final new show to air on ABC this season [Saturday morning 1973] was a spin-off of The Brady Kids called Mission: Magic! The show featured an animated, pre-General Hospital, pre-Jessie's Girl Rick Springfield as he journeyed along with the magical Miss Tickle and her after-school group of adventurers as they made their way through time and space. Since Springfield was the star of the show, he performed a song at the end of each episode that usually tied into the moral of the story.
