OLTL CONTEST: Making Prom Dreams Come True

“ONE LIFE TO LIVE” JOINS FORCES WITH DONATEMYDRESS.ORG

TO MAKE PROM DREAMS COME TRUE FOR TEENS WHO CAN’T AFFORD

PROM DRESSES THIS YEAR

WHAT: DonateMyDress.org’s Dream Dress Contest

On Wednesday, May 13, the Pussycat Dolls will make Llanview High School’s prom a night to remember on ABC’s “One Life to Live.”

And now girls who are having trouble affording a prom dress this year will have the chance to rock their own prom in one of the dresses from the episode.

HOW: Enter at www.MyPromStyle.com/win

In up to 300 words, share why you are having trouble affording a prom dress this year to win one of the 27 dresses worn in the upcoming prom scenes or “One Life to Live” star Kristen Alderson’s (“Starr Manning”) very own prom dress.

WHEN: Contest is LIVE now (began Tuesday, April 7th) and will officially end at midnight on Friday, April 24th.

Don’t forget to tune into “One Life to Live” on May 13th to watch Llanview High School’s prom — they’ve won a concert by the Pussycat Dolls who will perform “Jai Ho (You are My Destiny),” the English version of the hit Slumdog Millionaire song.

DonateMyDress.org is part of the Hearst Teen Network, which includes Seventeen.com, CosmoGirl.com, MisQuinceMag.com, MyPromStyle.com, eCRUSH.com and eSPIN.com.

According to a 2008 Hearst Teen survey, teen girls spent an average of $236 on a prom dress and $566 total on the prom night experience. In this economy, a growing number of teens and their parents cannot afford the costly expense of a prom dress. This is where DonateMyDress.org comes in — for the many girls who are not fortunate enough to be able to spend that kind of money on a dress, they help them find a donated gown. For more information go to www.DonateMyDress.org.

Beautiful Dreamer Contest Winner!

We have a winner for our latest contest. Our winner will receive a DVD of the award-winning movie, Beautiful Dreamer. It stars AMC star Colin Egglesfield, Desperate Housewives star James Denton and ex-Melrose Place star Brooke Langton.

To enter, all you had to do was answer one question: Which soap star do you think deserves his or her own movie and why?

Our winner is Bridget of Barlett, Illinois, for this entry:

Alison Sweeney definitely deserves her own movie. Besides being the outrageous character Sami Brady and pulling it off so well, she has a plethora of acting skills that would bring a sure hit to the silver screen. I could see her playing a mom in a comedy with a Adam Sandler as her husband. She has a magical presence on screen that I would love to see!

Thanks to everyone for entering, and be looking out for your DVD of the movie in the mail, Bridget. Congratulations!

CONTEST! CONTEST! CONTEST!

Want to win a copy of the award-winning movie, Beautiful Dreamer? It stars AMC star Colin Egglesfield, Desperate Housewives star James Denton and ex-Melrose Place star Brooke Langton. The plot is, as described on the official Myspace page:

America was changing forever. The world was at war. This compelling love story that rivals the classics will bring you to the edge of your seat and and warm your heart.

Claire Kelly (Brooke Langton) was sure her world had been torn apart forever when she lost Joe (Colin Egglesfield), the love of her life, to the ravages of war. Joe, a B-24 pilot, taught to fly as a boy by his beloved grandfather (Barry Corbin), is shot down over Europe during WWII and declared dead. Claire is forced to face the reality that Joe is gone and struggles to move on with her life.

Joe, who survived the crash, doesn't recognize Claire when he sees her. He is a shell of his former self and haunted by the crash that killed a crewmember in his arms and nearly killed him. Claire seeks the help of Dr. Kessler (James Denton), a specialist in war related trauma. He advises her to stay close to Joe, but not to try to force the past on him. Will Joe ever remember his past or will Claire be forced to move on without him?

With stunning visuals and a moving story, this film is one that will remind audiences what they love about movies.'Beautiful Dreamer' is dedicated to the brave crew of the B-24 Liberator bomber STARDUSTER.

All you have to do to win a DVD of this film is to answer one question: Which soap star do you think deserves his or her own movie and why? We will randomly draw a winner from all the entries, and also post the results here on the blog at a later date -- including some of the best and most creative.

Winner of Victoria Rowell's New Book

Last Tuesday, Daytime Dial had a contest and we now have a winner. As you will recall, the question was: Victoria recently starred alongside Samuel L. Jackson as his wife in this past winter's, Home of the Brave. What movie did they appear in together in the '90s?

The answer is, as most of you knew, Eve's Bayou. From the correct entries, we literally put the names in a hat (actually, a Chococat can koozie) and drew the winner. And that winner is: Desiree.

Thanks to all who participated, and keep checking back for future contests.

CONTEST! CONTEST! CONTEST!

Think you know Victoria Rowell (soon to be ex-Drucilla Winters, The Young and the Restless)? Well, prove it.

I'm gonna ask you a question. You have until Friday, March 2nd, to e-mail me your answer, daytimedial@gmail.com. (Or you can e-mail me through my blogspot profile.) Do NOT answer the question in the comments sections, as it will be deleted so as not to give the answer to other people.
