Jack Wagner Hosts the 2nd Annual Jack Wagner Celebrity Golf Classic

Emmy-nominated actor, recording artist and philanthropist Jack Wagner (Nick Marone, The Bold and the Beautiful) will host The 2nd Annual Jack Wagner Celebrity Golf Classic, benefitting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), it was announced today.

“I lost my father in 1990 to multiple myeloma and in 1999 my brother Dennis was diagnosed with leukemia. He has relapsed four separate times, during each of which he endured chemotherapy and the challenges that come along with recovery. In 2007, Dennis received a complete bone marrow transplant and is still fighting a daily battle against complications associated with this procedure,” said Wagner. “Let Dennis be an example to us all that our efforts truly make a difference. He is still with us today because of new life-saving treatments, but we must still push for a cure.”

Wagner, who was named the number one celebrity golfer by Golf Digest and winner of the 17th Annual (2006) American Century Tahoe Celebrity Golf Championship, approached LLS to create a golf event in support of the Society’s mission: cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life for patients and their families. In its first year, The Jack Wagner Celebrity Golf Classic raised $320,000 to fund critical cancer research and patient services.

This year’s event will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at The Valencia Country Club in Valencia, CA. Celebrities scheduled to attend include: Marcus Allen, Alonzo Bodden, Vince Coleman, Tom Dreesen, Kenny G, Brett Hull, Heather Locklear, Kyle Lowder, Jack McGee, Jerry Rice and Jack Wagner. The schedule of events includes breakfast, a shotgun start, golf tournament, a Million Dollar Shoot Out sponsored by Ritz Carlton Club, and a cocktail reception, silent auction, awards dinner and a live auction. The event is not open to the public. The Jack Wagner Celebrity Golf Classic is generously sponsored by Toyota Financial Services, The Bell Family Foundation, Parks, Palmer, Turner, and Yemenidjian, The Valencia Country Club and American Airlines. All proceeds will go directly to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®, headquartered in White Plains, NY, with 68 chapters in the United States and Canada, is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. The LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Since its founding in 1949, LLS has invested more than $550 million in research specifically targeting leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Last year alone, LLS made 5.1 million contacts with patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals. For more information on LLS please visit: www.lls.org/los.

Soap Couple Confirms Dating Rumors

According to the latest issue of People magazine, Heather Locklear (ex-Amanda, Melrose Place) has confirmed that she and former onscreen hubby, Jack Wagner (Nick, B&B) are indeed a couple. In fact, Heather is so over the moon, she says she's marry him if her asked. Here's a quote from the magazine: "If Jack said, 'Let's get married,' I'd go, 'OK!' But I have a daughter to consider. I'm trying to be a thoughtful role mode, and not selfish."

I am so excited to hear the news, as I think they make an awesome -- and great-looking -- couple. The footage I have seen of them together, they appear to be a kind and thoughtful couple, two people who deserve the happiness that being with one another brings. And if I can't have Jack, then I am happy that Heather got him. :)

Congrats to both of you!
