Casting News: Jon Prescott Is Out

Jon Prescott was hired by As the World Turns in April of this year to bring back the character of Mike Kasnoff — a character who was previously played by Shawn Christian and Mark C. Collier. Now, it seems, Jon has been let go. He made this statement on his official website:

"I'd like to express my gratitude to the entire cast, crew and production team who have made this an irreplaceable experience. I have been privileged to be a part of ATWT and this concludes an invaluable education. I view my departure as a positive step forward. Stay tuned as I share my next creative challenge with you shortly."

Budget problems are said to be the reason behind his departure. A spokesperson for the show has confirms Jon's exit, stating that he'll be sticking around until October.

I'll Take a Side Order of Mike

As much as I loved Mark Collier as Mike on As the World Turns (come back, Mike!), I have fond memories of the first Mike while I was in college, Shawn Christian. Christian has remained steadily employed since leaving ATWT, including a part on the short-lived beachy drama Summerland. While it was rumored that ATWT wanted him back when Collier left, so far I haven't seen his handsome mug in Oakdale.

However, you can get your fix by watching the Aug. 26th episode of the Lifetime television series Side Order of Life at 9 p.m. In this episode, Jenny (Marisa Coughlan) looks up her first high-school love (Christian) while researching a story for the magazine.
