An Evening of Surprises on Daytime's Biggest Celebration

The Daytime Emmy Awards had a few surprises up its sleeve this evening. Whether you agree or disagree, you have to admit the show is never boring. The biggest shock of the evening was when The Bold and the Beautiful took home the trophy for Outstanding Drama, the first win for the soap since its debut more than two decades ago. The half-hour soap is rather campy at times (see above), even The Soup pokes fun at it, but it sure is fun to watch as opposed to some of its competitors, which seem to be filled with more violence than romance these days.

Here's a list of the top categories:
Outstanding Drama: B&B
Outstanding Lead Actor: Christian LeBlanc (Michael, Y&R)
Outstanding Lead Actress: Susan Haskell (Marty, OLTL)
Outstanding Supporting Actor: A tie between Vincent Irizzary (David, AMC) and Jeff Branson (Shayne, GL)
Outstanding Supporting Actress: Tamara Braun (ex-Ava, Y&R)
Outstanding Younger Actor: Darin Brooks (ex-Max, Days)
Outstanding Younger Actress: Julie Berman (Lulu, GH)

We'd love to hear your comments about the ceremony and the winners!
