Interview: Days' Chloe Is Back and Sassier Than Ever!

Chloe Black’s return to Salem was veiled in mystery. Rumors were rampant that she had killed her husband, Brady. Even Chloe’s portrayer, Nadia Bjorlin, wasn’t sure if she was playing a murderess or a woman who simply was misunderstood. As it turns out, it was the latter.

So, what exactly spurred Nadia to return to “Days of Our Lives”? “I feel fortunate because they had asked me a few times to come back. Around September (2007) they approached me again. They told me that Chloe was going to be a little different this time around.”

Nadia was interested right from the get-go, because, as she says, “Many of us grew up on the show, and now that our characters are all grown up, we are more worldly.

Especially Chloe. Nadia was a bit hesitant to come back without Chloe’s husband, Brady. “It was a scary thought. I wasn’t sure how people would react. But they promised it would be a great story line. I’ve always enjoyed playing Chloe, so I put my trust in them.”

However, at first she was in the dark about the direction of her character, just like the audience was. “It was tough at first, being back without Brady. At first, the producers didn’t tell me whether Brady would be back or if they would recast. It was a bit of a risk.”

Nadia is happy that she ended up not killing Brady, as Victor had tried to imply when she first came back into town. However, now that Chloe is back, and alone, she is more confused than ever. “Right now is a grieving and processing time for Chloe. There wasn’t any closure. They were having problems, but she still loves him. She is truly heartbroken.”

Now that Brady wants a divorce, Chloe is looking for comfort, and she is finding it in the arms of Philip Kiriakis. “I don’t think it’s anything serious with Philip, at least not yet,” Nadia says.

Since returning, Nadia has enjoyed playing a “new” Chloe. “She was always likable, but she was a damsel in distress. And she is human. No one stays the same their whole life. I love the sassy Chloe. And I love all the catfights with Nicole. A lot of people are happy for me as Nadia the actress because I get to play new sides to Chloe.”

If fans want the opportunity to see a different side of Nadia, as well as other soap actors, they can get up close and personal with them this coming January for Celebrity Cruises’ Soap Cruise.

Nadia went last year (as a guest of boyfriend Brandon Beemer’s, ex- Shawn Brady), and is excited to return for the second voyage. “Last year we had a great time.

There is great food, sun, a casino, fan events – lots of ways to get into trouble. I would encourage people to come because this is unlike any fan event you’ll ever attend. For four days we are all on this ship together; there’s nowhere you can go!

“Plus, you never know who will show up. The more people who sign up, the more stars they will bring on to accommodate the fans.”
