Emmy-Winning Scribe Shares Head-Writing Duties at Y&R

Hogan Sheffer is one of the most talked about head writers on the Internet message boards. You either love him or hate him. I personally think he's awesome. If I can't have Doug Marland alive and well or Claire Labine given total creative freedom, then I'll take Sheffer.

Sheffer was head writer of As the World Turns in the early 2000s. He was responsible for the kidnapped spa ladies storyline. (Carly, Rose and Emily were abducted by James Stenbeck when all three actresses were pregnant at the same time, so they were cloaked in fluffy white robes with towels on their heads.) He made Maura West front and center by writing storylines about Carly that were worth watching. He turned Barbara (Colleen Zenk Pinter) bad and showed us what a fabulous actress CZP is.

Then he went to Days of Our Lives, where he was promptly fired after the writer's strike. The ratings sunk when he was at the helm, but critics loved him. I actually thought the show was fantastic during his tenure (ducking from the tomatoes). ...

Now he has been named co-head writer of the No. 1-rated soap, The Young and the Restless, and I can't wait to see how he turns it around. The soap hasn't been the same since Lynn Marie Latham took over (she has since been sent her walking papers). I hope Sheffer can work his magic.
